‘NephroNet AI: Prospective clinical validation of a senescence biomarker panel to predict renal trajectory in CKD.’
Dr Rai, Senior Lecturer in Cellular Ageing and Principal Investigator of the Senescence and Chronic Disease Research Group at Ulster University’s Personalised Medicine Centre, is leading two innovative AI-driven platforms:
🔹 NephroNet – predicts how kidney function may change up to a year in advance for people living with chronic kidney disease.
🔹 AKINet – identifies patients most at risk of developing chronic kidney disease after an episode of acute kidney injury.
This pioneering work brings together medicine, data science and laboratory research with one clear aim: improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden of kidney disease across Northern Ireland and beyond.
Our official launch event will take place on 15th April, 7–9pm, at Ulster University, C-TRIC Building, Altnagelvin Hospital, Glenshane Road, Londonderry/Derry, BT47 6SB. Dr Oonagh McCloskey, NIKRF Research Medical Advisor, will also be presenting.
