Celebrating the ‘Gift of Life’ Portadown Family to Open the Waringstown Cavalcade 2025
The Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund (NIKRF) is delighted to announce that the McClory family from Portadown will officially open the 2025 Waringstown Cavalcade on Friday 27th June at 6.45pm, alongside the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Stephen Moutray.
This year’s Cavalcade holds special significance, as it celebrates the remarkable story of Scott McClory and his father, Mark. Scott, the son of Mark and Carol McClory, had faced ongoing kidney problems for several years, enduring daily dialysis treatment before receiving a lifesaving kidney transplant from his father. Mark’s selfless donation gave his son the ultimate gift—life.

They are both keeping well and are grateful for the renewed quality of life they can now enjoy together as a family.
The McClorys hope their experience will raise awareness of living organ donation and inspire others to consider giving the gift of life.
Mark says, “Being able to give Scott a second chance has been the greatest privilege of my life. We’re so thankful for the support we’ve received and hope our story helps others see how life-changing living donation can be.”
Their story is one of love, resilience, and hope—perfectly aligned with the spirit of the Waringstown Cavalcade, the Home of the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund.
NIKRF is proud to raise funds for research into treatments for kidney disease so that families like the McClorys can benefit from a better quality of life. We are deeply grateful for their advocacy and courage.
