Community Spirit Shines in Derriaghy: Local Clubs Raise £1,425 for Kidney Research
The NI Kidney Research Fund was honoured to receive an incredible donation of £1,425, raised through the collective efforts of Derriaghy Cricket Club, Derriaghy Football Club, Catch My Pal, and Kingsway Snooker Club.
This wonderful community fundraiser was organised in support of several members who are living with kidney disease, and it brought together friends, supporters, and local clubs for an afternoon of connection and generosity.

Among those who shared their stories were Davy Jack, Stanley Dewart, Robin Saulters, and Stephen Geary—individuals who continue to face the challenges of kidney disease with strength and courage. Stories ranged from dialysis treatment to living with just one kidney, and rare conditions such as IgA nephropathy.
A very special thank-you goes to Stephen Geary, who lives with IgA nephropathy and played a leading role in organising the event. His dedication to raising awareness and funds for kidney research is truly inspiring.
Also in attendance were David Maek, Chair of Derriaghy Cricket Club, and David Skelton, Club Treasurer, both of whom have been strong supporters of NIKRF’s mission.
Thanks to this event and the generosity of all who contributed, the NI Kidney Research Fund can continue its vital work funding research, supporting patients, and raising awareness of kidney disease across Northern Ireland.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved. Your kindness and community spirit are helping to make a real difference.
Thank you.
Together, we are stronger.
