The Kidney Crew: Running for Anne and Racing Toward a Cure
As the countdown to the 2025 Belfast City Marathon continues, we are proud to highlight one of our most inspiring fundraising teams: The Kidney Crew — made up of Ciaran Conwell and Brian, running in memory of the late Anne Conway.

A Personal Mission
Anne Conway was a beloved friend, family member, and supporter of kidney research. Her passing left a deep void in many lives, and now, her legacy is being honoured in the most powerful way — through action.
Ciaran and Brian have taken up the mantle, turning their grief into determination. Brian is taking on the incredible challenge of running the full 26.2-mile marathon, while Ciaran is leading a dedicated relay team, with each member bringing energy and passion to the cause.
Their team name — The Kidney Crew — is more than a label. It’s a tribute to Anne, a symbol of unity, and a rallying cry to raise awareness and funds for the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund (NIKRF).
Making Every Step Count
With over £2,473 raised so far, The Kidney Crew is making a significant impact. These funds directly support groundbreaking research, patient care initiatives, and the pursuit of better treatments for kidney disease — a cause that affects thousands across Northern Ireland and beyond.
“We’re running for Anne,” Ciaran shared. “But we’re also running for everyone affected by kidney disease. Every step we take is for them.”
