A Beauty with Purpose: Hannah Johns Raises Kidney Awareness on the World Stage

As the 72nd Miss World competition draws to a close, the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund (NIKRF) is filled with pride reflecting on the remarkable journey of our ambassador, Hannah Johns — a renal nurse, Miss Northern Ireland 2024, and a global advocate for kidney health.

Hannah’s journey to the Miss World final has been nothing short of extraordinary. From her beginnings caring for patients on the renal ward in Belfast, to being crowned Miss Northern Ireland, she has continued to use every platform to champion a cause close to her heart: raising awareness of kidney disease and the importance of organ donation.

A Global Stage, A Local Voice

Leaving Northern Ireland nearly a month ago, Hannah joined fellow Miss World finalists in India for a whirlwind of activities. From sports and fitness challenges to cultural exchanges, hospital visits and craft centre tours, Hannah embraced every moment — proudly flying the flag for her country and for the kidney community.

Her Beauty with a Purpose campaign — focused on kidney health education and prevention — quickly gained attention. Through interviews, events, and powerful content, Hannah brought visibility to the millions affected by kidney disease globally, reminding audiences that kidney health is a cause that affects all nations and communities.

Her Message, Our Mission

Though Hannah did not take home the Miss World crown, she accomplished something far greater: she made kidney disease prevention and awareness a global conversation.

Her work throughout the competition has helped shine a light on early detection, living donation, and the realities of life for patients and their families. Her commitment to this cause has been unrelenting, compassionate, and deeply personal.

Thank You, Hannah

On behalf of the NIKRF and everyone in the kidney community — thank you, Hannah.
