Ciaran Conwell Goes the Extra Mile for NI Kidney Research Fund
This past weekend, Ciaran Conwell undertook an incredible challenge, pushing his limits to raise vital funds for Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund. Covering an astonishing 48 miles, taking over 102,000 steps, and burning nearly 7,300 calories, Ciaran’s journey was not just a test of endurance but a testament to the power of community and remembrance.
Running with a Purpose
For Ciaran, this event was about much more than just running. It was a heartfelt tribute to Anne, a wonderful woman whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact. Ciaran said:
“The running was only a personal platform to allow us all to remember a great woman. It was all to remember Anne – we should all aim to provide as much kindness to the world as she did, because it is definitely missed.”

A Community Effort
The challenge saw overwhelming support from family, friends, and the local community. Moorlough, the setting for the final leg of the run, was alive with energy and togetherness—from fellow runners to cheering supporters, and even children getting active.
Ciaran extended his deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed in any way—whether through donations, words of encouragement, or joining him on the run. He also acknowledged the tireless support of his family, particularly his fiancée Erin Griffin, who played a crucial role behind the scenes.
Supporting Kidney Research
All funds raised through Ciaran’s challenge will go towards Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund, the only charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, and potential cures for kidney disease.
“It is not a quick fix, but we are doing this to try and provide hope for future generations.”
