Inspiring Action: St John the Baptist Primary School Rallies Behind Kidney Research

We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on an incredible show of community spirit and support from St John the Baptist Primary School in Portadown, where not one but two relay teams have come together to raise vital funds for the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund.

The inspiration behind this effort is as heartwarming as it is powerful. When Mrs. Beatty, a beloved Primary 3 teacher, donated a kidney to her mum last year through a living donation, the entire school community was deeply moved. Her selfless act didn’t just save a life—it sparked a ripple of compassion that continues to grow.

“We were inspired by Mrs. Beatty and wanted to show our support for her and her mum,” said Carol, one of the team organisers. “We had hoped to get one team together, and we were absolutely thrilled when even more people came on board!”

Now, staff members from across the school are lacing up their running shoes and taking to the relay track to raise awareness and funds for kidney research in Northern Ireland. Their energy, enthusiasm, and solidarity are a true reflection of the values we hold dear—hope, generosity, and community.

We’re so proud to have the support of this wonderful school, and we’ll be cheering on both teams every step of the way!
